We are always looking for curious, motivated, and technically strong students and researchers to join our mission of advancing sustainable water systems planning and management.
At the LINS Lab, we offer ample computing resources, modeling tools, strong interdisciplinary collaborations, and a supportive working environment, with a clear focus on impactful, science-based solutions for water and society.
PhD Students
The LINS Lab is actively recruiting motivated PhD students each year to advance research in water resources management, human–water systems, decision analytics, socio-technical resilience, water use science, and risk assessment.
PhD students in our lab are fully supported through graduate research and/or teaching assistantships. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in engineering, hydrology, statistics, computer science, climate science, environmental science, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and related fields.
Start dates are flexible, with earlier enrollment preferred.
Undergraduate / MS Research Assistants / Interns
We also offer part-time and internship opportunities for undergraduate and master’s students who are interested in our mission and research projects. These positions are supported through research assistantships or external fellowship programs.
How to apply?
If you are interested in joining the LINS Lab, please email a single PDF to linslab.recruiting@gmail.com with the subject line “Prospective Student | [Full Name] | [PhD/MS/BS/Intern] | [Intended Start Date, e.g., Fall 2026]” containing the following:
(1) a 1-page cover letter describing your fit, research interests and experience, and career vision,
(2) your CV and
(3) transcripts of all degrees.
For PhD applicants, you must also apply to the graduate program at Clemson University (NO application fee & GRE requirements). Please list my name (Dr. Chung-Yi Lin) in your cover letter/personal statement and the application system, and kindly keep me informed of your application status.
I will carefully review every email; however, please understand that I may not be able to respond to each inquiry individually. If your application appears to be a good fit, I will contact you to arrange a 30-minute screening interview. This will be an informal conversation for us to get acquainted and to discuss your interests, goals, and potential alignment with the lab.
